Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup hot sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place chicken in a bowl with buttermilk and let marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).
- In another bowl, combine flour, Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Pan-fry chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter and whisk in hot sauce to create a spicy glaze.
- Brush or drizzle glaze over cooked chicken.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot with biscuits, cornbread, or rice.
Notes
- Adjust cayenne pepper for your preferred spice level.
- For a lighter option, bake chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes instead of frying.
- Pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, or coleslaw.
